We’ve got exciting news! Ever since we launched our cloud accounts production software, BrightAccountsProduction, in the UK, one question has been on everyone’s mind – when will it be integrated with our cloud tax and accounts software, BrightTax? Well, the wait is officially over! The new BrightTax and BrightAccountsProduction integration is now live and ready to streamline your tax return work like never before.

At Bright, innovation is at the forefront of everything we do. Our goal is to unite all of our products into one cohesive, efficient toolkit for accountants and bookkeepers, and this integration is an example of this coming into fruition. Whether you’re looking to save time, eliminate the manual slog around busy season, or enhance the accuracy of your work, this integration is set to revolutionise how you handle tax returns for 2025 and beyond.

Why this BrightTax and BrightAccountsProduction integration is a game-changer

Manually inputting journal entries into separate platforms? Those days can now be a thing of the past. With this integration, you can post journals directly from BrightTax to BrightAccountsProduction, simplifying this once lengthy task.

Key benefits of the BrightTax and BrightAccountsProduction integration

  • Seamless data flow: No more juggling platforms. This integration ensures effortless flow of data between the two platforms.
  • Varying date ranges: Unlike some tools that are rigid about timeframes, this integration lets you transfer data for varying date ranges, not just a fixed full 12-month set of accounts.
  • Enhanced accuracy: Automation greatly reduces the risk of errors. By integrating these two tools, you can boost your firm’s accuracy while saving time.

How to use the integration effectively

We designed this integration to be as intuitive and user-friendly as possible. Below is a step-by-step walkthrough to help you get started and make the most of the connection between BrightTax and BrightAccountsProduction.

Posting journals

In terms of the accounts production side of things, nothing has changed in terms of sending data cross. Just go to your accounts, click on the down arrow > iXBRL accounts > For HMRC > and then you’ll get an option to ‘Submit to BrightTax’.

After it’s been submitted to BrightTax, you’ll then have the tax return in your task list. To generate your journals, click into the tax return, and go down through the list to ensure everything (adjustment of profits computation, marginal relief, etc.) has been added correctly.

Once you’re happy and want to generate the iXBRL file, click on ‘Check the Return and Generate iXBRL Files’. If there are any warnings, sort them out first. Then, once you’re happy to continue, the iXBRL file is generated, and you’ll get a notification at the top of the screen for confirmation.

How can we check if it’s been attached it correctly?

You’ll know it’s completed the journals by going to the summary screen and clicking on ‘associated files’. You can view and download them. If you go back to the BrightAccountsPoduction software, there’s now an option for ‘CT Journal’ on your Produce Accounts screen. Click on the button, and it’ll give you the journals to post.

To finalise, click ‘Yes’ and you’ll get a confirmation note on screen. And that’s it! You’ll then be able to find the journals by going to your Nominal ledger in BrightAccountsProduction.
