Cutting Carbon
Bright takes environmental responsibility seriously and is committed to developing our business towards ecological sustainability at both company and individual level.
We are currently completing our carbon footprint measurement for 2024. The measurement uses an operational boundary approach in accordance with Greenhouse Gas Protocol on corporate accounting and reporting. The measurement includes a comprehensive Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 evaluation using both primary activity data as well as spend based emission factors. We are working with carbon accountants to identify authentic steps towards reducing our carbon emissions.
Current Carbon Emission Reduction Measures
Our IT Systems
Customers can purchase directly from our websites, leading to automatic generation and electronic transmission of invoices, thereby reducing the need for printing and copying. This digital approach eliminates thousands of paper transactions annually while providing customers with instant access to their documentation.
Our software is downloadable from our websites, eliminating the distribution, consumption and landfill of almost 30,000 CD and USB sticks each year. It’s a win-win: better efficiency for our users and a lighter footprint for the planet.
Our Buildings
Our head office in Duleek, Co. Meath, Ireland, opened in 2021 and is designed with energy efficiency in mind. It runs on 100% renewable energy and features 50 rooftop solar panels, six electric vehicle charging points and a stormwater attenuation tank. The car park includes a petrol interceptor to filter oil and petrol before water enters the drainage system. Our Belfast office also uses 100% renewable energy and our Warwick office is equipped with 83 rooftop solar panels.
Our Workplace Culture
Internally, we are just as committed. We lead initiatives to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices among staff. These include reducing single-use plastics, improving recycling efforts and encouraging environmentally conscious behaviour both at work and at home. We choose suppliers who share our environmental values and prioritising products with lower environmental impact.
