Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) are passionate topics for us here at Bright, so we wanted to shine some light on those doing it right. We sat down with Daniel Ellis, who’s been at Q Accountants for just shy of a year. He shared insights into the remarkable initiatives that are under way at the firm, making a positive difference for people worldwide.
We’ve just released our case study with Q Accountants, where we dive into what DEI and ESG mean for them, and how they ingrained these strategies throughout their practice. We also explore some of the initiatives that resulted in Q Accountants’ nomination for the for the 2023 DEI Pride Award at the Accounting Excellence awards, including their:
- Ukraine initiative, where they leverage their financial expertise and diverse workforce to help those fleeing the war get settled and set up in the UK.
- Work with the charitable organisations, where the practice helps them set up and offers a full year free for their accounting services.
- Positive environmental impact, driven by their partnership with Verdn, where every time a client pays through direct debit, a portion goes directly to help support important ecosystem restoration around the world.¯

From our first interaction with Q Accountants, it was clear to see how much DEI and ESG meant to everyone at the accounting firm. At Bright, our hope for this case study is to shine light on a firm that’s doing it right, and to inspire other practices in the industry to kickstart and prioritise their own DEI and ESG initiatives. If you’re interested in reading the whole case study and seeing Q Accountants’ advice about how to kickstart your DEI and ESG initiatives, you can access it below.
